Let’s Talk Scalability
Ever tried to send a Bitcoin transaction and wondered why it takes so long? You’re not alone. Bitcoin faces fundamental scalability challenges. Its original network design processes only around seven transactions per second (TPS), which, compared to blockchains like Solana that can handle thousands of TPS, feels like a snail’s pace. Why Can’t Bitcoin Scale?
It all boils down to what’s known as the Blockchain Trilemma — the idea that you can’t have decentralization, security, and scalability all at once. Bitcoin chose to prioritize decentralization and security, which is why it’s such a strong and tamper-resistant network. But the trade-off is that it can’t scale easily. Then there’s the issue with smart contracts.
